About
Arlene
I am an Interior Decorator and owner of a decorating firm “Art of Interior
Re-Design™”.
I offer consulting and design services in redesign –indoors and
out; organization and real estate staging; and a
training school (called “Canadian Art of Re-Design™”) for people who
want to work on their own spaces, or who want to help others by becoming
redesign consultants themselves. I am co-founder of Professional Redesigners of
Canada, an organization for graduating members of my training program, which
will soon include other graduate redesigners who take a three-day refresher
course.
I have been featured locally in several
publications. I regularly conduct
workshops through the Leisure Guide at the local library for continuing
education in decorating and redesign classes.
Arlene’s passion
The satisfaction of seeing a customer’s reaction to his or her home after a
one-day makeover is the most rewarding experience! After completing the project,
I always just want to sit down and stay awhile…the atmosphere feels so warm and
inviting. If this is the way I feel, what must the homeowner be feeling?
How she got here
I decided to pursue my dream and passion for interior decorating, and after
reading about the specialized field of redesign, "something that was
missing in the field of decorating", I was determined to create the most
successful Interior Redesign business possible.
I completed an interior design course and extensive business classes to
help complete my necessary business plan and redesign training in United
States, before starting on my new venture.
After redesigning many homes throughout Canada and establishing myself
according to Redesign professional standards, I decided to start my own
training program.
I felt interior redesign was essential but my theory of a well working
home reflected the necessity to add an organization segment into the
program.
Additionally, I believe a home includes both bringing the outdoors in and
extending the indoors out. This belief made adding "redesign of the
outdoors" into my training programs a natural decision.
I am very enthusiastic about redesign, so I wear a few different hats.
First, I am an Interior Decorator. I love DOING. I offer consulting
and design services in redesign, indoors and out; organization
and real estate staging.
| Second, I am a Redesign Trainer. I love TEACHING and COACHING--not
only homeowners who want to transform their own spaces, but those who want
to actually get into redesign as a career, and help others with their
redesign challenges. So I offer training services - workshops and seminars
of varying lengths and topics. But, it was important that my students have
continuing education...and feel the importance of contributing to the body
of knowledge in the field of redesign; so my students and I created an
association to create this continuum of excellence. I founded the
Canadian Art of Re-Design™, a school unique in incorporating
all aspects of design into our training, whose motto is "Redesigning and
Organizing - Indoors & Out!" I am also co-founder of Professional
Redesigners of Canada, an organization for graduating members of my
training program, which will soon include other graduate redesigners who
take a three-day refresher course.
Last, I am a Redesign Evangelist! I love
SPEAKING...so I accept
speaking engagements to share with others the excitement and satisfaction of
redesign, organization and utilizing all our living spaces, indoors and out!

Arlene’s
re-design training
philosophy
I believe that living space must be equally functional and beautiful.
It’s the yin and yang of room design…balance, and wellness: you need to be
able to feel well in a room, and work well in a room. This has
much to do with taste, based on your life experience and your unique
personality.
The same is true of training…so we build on your life experience, and we
take the classroom into design environments so you have the opportunity to
put your learning and ideas into practice as part of the learning journey.
We work together, and everyone learns. I also believe having fun is
essential to learning…if we aren’t having fun, why are we doing it to begin
with? Creativity is stimulated by a sense of fun, so there won’t be a dull
moment!
Comments from previous students have included that it was "the
5 most fun filled days that they have ever had and they came away
with great new friends"... Something that every
instructor strives for!
